Drowning in You

by

Alice C. Bateman

Oh no, I think I’m drowning
Going under the third time
Your love has me surrounded
And yet all I have is rhyme

Your words say how you love me
Your voice shows me your heart
And yet I’m still here yearning
Too long, we’ve been apart

My love, if you are my love
I need to see your face
Just the brief sight of your Dear name
Can make my poor heart race

Imagine what your face could do
To ease my weary mind
I need to see your photograph
If you would be so kind

This is a strange and wondrous world
We can love without e’er meeting
Can’t wait until the day when we
Exchange our first ‘real’ greeting

In person, in the real world
Where our feelings can see light
When we will know for good, for sure
If what we feel is right
