My Dreamland
by
Alice C. Bateman
A land of birds and wildlife
Of crystal lakes and streams
A space to lay you head back
And visualize your dreams
A lazy hawk above you
Floats backwards on the air
Blue heron with a purpose
Flies alone up there
Pine needles whisper soothing songs
If you take the time to listen
And morning dew on leafy trees
Can make your whole world glisten
"Ed's Live Bait" and "Wood for Sale"
Not neon signs, but paint
And Sunday Mass, with reverence
In a House of God, so quaint
Clouds touched by the Radiance
Of His own Hand bespeak
Of peace and love and shelter
And strength when we are weak
My Dreamland has lent harmony
Unto this troubled mind
And it can do the same for you
If you are so inclined
