The Writer's Voice

The World's Favourite Literary Website

To Mom and Dad

by

Alice C. Bateman

“Thank you for having me”

How very true

‘Cause you are my parents

I came here through you

The stars were aligned

One particular day

And a girl-child named Alice

Was well on the way

To this planet of suffering

Anger and strife

Nevertheless

Thank you for this life

I’ve learned many lessons

I’m still learning more

I look to tomorrow

To open new doors

A path to the future

Lies shining and clear

With your help and God’s

I will walk without fear

Thank you for having me...
