The Blackness of a Deep Sleep
by
Alisha Morgan

Black --
Yes, that's what it needs to be
If Black doesn't show -- I do hope he will! --
But, with no such sign, there will be an insanity
plea.
Without Black, I might as well be mentally ill.
And what of the Noise?
That I can not stand!
Does it not know of what it destroys?
Time crumbles away, past each hour hand.
I am with Noise, though I wish it were not so
And without Black -- seems He likes to tease --
Of the time, I have no desire to know
It all just wastes away, with a certain expertise.
Still I lay here, hoping for a little more,
Perhaps a little less, as well...
I feel it coming, esprit de corps!
I'm beginning to hear the words of farewell
At last! Black is nearly here,
Almost here, he is coming, at long last!
No one is to interfere,
Sleep will now take over en masse.
