Love Lost
by
Angela Lee Annette

silence is crueler than the bitterest wind
blowing across the frozen wasteland of the heart
uncertainty mixing with doubt creating images of
derision and desertion
where is the reassuring sound of your voice
where is the comfort of your loving arms
empty and forlorn crying out in despair
helpless pleas fallen on deaf ears
no longer listening
no longer discerning
tones of love tender and warm
gone is the calidity and the light
laughter no longer ringing out
care free happy and loved
