The Drown

by

Avanti Vazirani

Hidden under an iron sea is the fact that most deny.
Drowning in it seems like a normal act that most can’t defy.
Reasons still unexplained; not many that survived to clarify.

On the shore, sand beneath the feet with no firm hold
Slowly slipping in the palms of the iron sea; into mysteries so cold
Grasped by calmness even when lost in the ashes of doubts yet to unfold
Faded in ignorance, the great God’s words which were once heard and told

Floated in the sea of reasons unexplained and the melodies so silent
Years melted drop by drop and disappeared in the iron sea as if inexistent.
Lines upon the face from years of true smiles and pain are not worth this torment.
For those that survive the drown is a tunnel of hope with arrays of light so different.

Finally with opened eyes saw something real and better
Alive with beauty and an honest spirit of survival
A shore for those who truly endeavor.
