Dear
Mrs. Lilly
By

Lilly
Dear Mrs. Lilly,
We regret to inform you
that your son is being indicted
on several counts of
thinking.
These charges are severe
and carry penalties
up to and including:
execution.
Several times we’ve tried
to rehabilitate
his way of thinking,
all to no avail; Mrs. Lilly,
we feel your son is
incorrigible.
Currently he is being held
in an isolated cell . . . separate
from the rest of the inmates.
We feel this is safer
since you never know
what people like him
might do.
He seems determined,
set on a path contrary to our own, therefore,
twenty-four hour surveillance
is needed.
Currently, we’re monitoring
his every thought, hoping
the medication will have some effect,
but as of yet . . . we are
without success . . .
yesterday’s urinalysis
revealed trace elements of
‘freewill.'
