Druid Night
by
Charilette Rai Sweeney

Cold dark sentinels stand through the night,
once mirroring shadows by fire’s light
The answer cannot be readily seen
upon the stones nor in-between
Each pillar within the circle row,
whose purpose only ancients know
The dancers must have been a curious sight
as they would spin and sway throughout the night
Summoning by magic that which cannot be seen
except in nightmares from druid’s dream
Silent circle upon Celtic land
embraced believers within its stand
A gift from God to those below,
buried ‘neath the rock so long ago
