The Dream That You Gave

by

Cindy Piazza-Ivy

You lifted my desires for a love I couldn’t see.

Your inspirations created in me a world of tireless love.

In the darkest night, I learned of the most tender touch.

It was like a whisper of everlasting hope.

That would forever carry me with a forbearing, faith.

You loved me like only in a dream.

The wealth you gave me was greener than the loveliest of green.

Your understanding captured my deepest pain.

If you would see me in my most miserable state,

Your knowledge of kindness would take me to my heart’s loneliest hope.

I will never forget you, and your love you never spared.

I will keep you close in my soul’s emptiest cave.

That feeling I long for with all that I am,

I will know and never lose,

The most precious dream that you gave.
