Mistress

by

Cinnamon Brown

I met you on a day similar to today
The weather was cold and the skies were gray
We shared a brief greeting
The man of my dreams I swore I was meeting
We went out, laughed, talked, and kissed
When I didn't see you again your presence was missed
Life was not going to let me off that easy
And life didn't warn me that you would be sleazy
late night candlelight rendezvous
promising me one day we'd say I do's
I started wondering why you left every night
That's when it all started coming to light
I realized there was something that you were excluding
But when I asked you said I was intruding
It all hit me when I told you we'd created life
And you kindly responded "what about my wife?"
