Snapshots of Summer
by
Crystal J. Stranaghan

the rough warmth of a sun baked towel
on a salt-cold, sandy body
rivulets of melting ice cream
licked from a salty wrist
glossy, beetle-black watermelon seeds
peeking from yellow-green grass
a thunderstorm of sensation from
a cold sprinkler rat-tat-tatting
on the lawn of an ants’ house
a moving picture show of animal clouds
that shape shift in the flickering light
of the late night fires on the beach
the gentle caress of a somnolent
breeze on newly reborn skin.
