Knuckles on Your Chin

by

D. A. Williams

It is the pain
That cannot break the spirit
That makes me ball up a fist
And make the world feel it
But I don't swing my fist
In a regular fashion
I use it to write down words
With heart and passion
You can't stop my mind
From having these thoughts
Cause there is not a line in the sand
That hasn't been crossed
Or an emotional control
That hasn't been lost
I've lived my life with
A sense of rejection
Due to a father who wasn't there
When I needed protection
But that didn't kill me
Only made me stronger
Filled me with a drive to live my life
Just a little bit longer
And in all reality
That just made me colder
Which makes the weight of the world
Kind of easy to shoulder
But things are good for you dad
At least in a way
I hate you more and more
With every passing day
So it's good for you pop
That I speak with a pen
Cause standing face to face
There would be knuckles on your chin!!!
