Flowers

by

Edie Miller

Soft muted tones
of painted flowers
with their streaking lacy thinness
each delicately veined petal
whispers
in a silken water-colored voice
like the scarce caress
of my skin beneath his touch.

The slender stalk
of the columbine
stands gracefully erect
while a ceramic pot
hangs in the corner,
dripping fuchsia
in shades of lavender.
