In the Casements of Memories

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

When somebody comes and sits

In the casement of our memories

He makes us forget altogether

The severity of the rainstorms

And the intensity of windstorms.

In the kingdom of the heart

In the rule of the heart

Flowers begin to blossom

We are ready to live in the state of crucifixion

We become accustomed to drink

The bitter draughts of grief so happily

The tyranny of time is scattered

Like the dust of the old trodden paths

All the gloominess of the face

Is washed away by our tears

All our sullenness of nature

Is cleaned away all at once

When somebody comes and sits

In the casement of our memories.

Although many people come and go

In the doorway of our lives

And they are telling us their stories

And make us roam in the streets of their love

Yet when we are alone, all alone

And meet with our solitude

Some new kinds of flowers begin to bloom

Who listen to our story so patiently

We tell in detail what happens to us

In the days and nights of our life

It only happens when

Some body comes and sits

In the casement of our memories

This is usually the time with us

When he makes us forget altogether

The severity of the rainstorms

And the intensity of windstorms.
