My Inner Voice

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

While walking through the mazes of life,
I am too tired and want to rest,
There is a voice that says to me,
Don’t sit, don’t relax, or you would,
Feel a boredom and a fatigue,
Which shall bring you many sufferings,
Not for you only but also to those,
Who are related to you anyway.
This voice says to me, go ahead,
And keep on walking because you have,
Such untrammeled path before you,
Which is waiting for your marks,
Marks that have to show to others,
How to move ahead, and how to advance,
How to know what lies ahead, and,
What worlds are still to be known,
What worlds are still to be brought
From darkness to light for human service,
And for those generations that have yet,
To come into being. And with this voice,
I throw away my easy self and start anew,
On the journey of life with a new zest,
With new hopes and new aspirations.
