The Drama of the Absurd

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

When we cut the branches of our soul,
From the Supreme Spirit, we lose our identity,
And to make us known, we dress ourselves, with,
Non-essentials. We hide our emptiness,
With decent clothes, hectic employment, and
The routine activities of animals.
We become a hollow shell when these non-essentials,
Are taken away. We feel no purpose in our living,
And no aim in our existence. In such case,
Trivial things become important for us, which,
Very soon create such a monotony that exposes us,
To ourselves. We see nothing except hopelessness,
And emptiness in our lives. And seem to have
No purpose before us. We begin to pass our
Present without any reference to past or future,
We begin to express words without meanings,
And the meanings without action. and,
As a consequence, when we are all alone,
And think what we have done, the answer is.
Nothing – The only thing which we have,
Successfully done, is making life,
A drama of the Absurd.
