Another Poet
by
Elizabeth Maua Taylor

A mountain
climber? A broken-hearted lover?
A daredevil with a death wish?
No; she writes poetry.
She's anorexic; she picks and pokes
To eat the perfect word.
And just like a spoiled heiress,
She wears every word,
Only to discard most, barely used.
She's the architect, envisioning its format;
The carpenter, she hammers away ---
She tears down, she starts again
Her chapel, yes her cathedral,
Bricked and steepled with emotion,
Buttressed with her soul.
An offering to her Muse.
