The Martyred
By
Elizabeth Maua Taylor
The fiery chain unleashed in thundered heaven,
Surreal in day, inferno burns at night,
Pure hate is thrown across a distant tandem,
A thousand martyred masses gone from sight.
The monster's face hides in the smoky shadow,
Eyes dancing at the sight of chaos' woes,
No spark of tenderness, or faith to follow,
Just giddiness for killing in its throes.
The martyred rise out of the rubbled ashes,
Rebuilding all that's ever built before,
United in their purpose, in their passions,
Together, love surrounds their newborn core.
It chokes; the monsters' tentacles are fallen.
It dies a thousand martyrs' death alone.
