Wake

by

Emily Maus

Through dreaming’s distant voice
And far-wandering memory
In silent sleeper’s trance
Encased in present darkness
Reality blurs blind eyes
Show unclear what is clear
Dreams cast in painted glass
Concealed beyond recall
Echoes from distant past
Sound silently in dark
Where dwell no shadows
No regrets
Night yearns, dawn returns
But I do not wish to wake
