No Escape
by
Frank Blacharczyk

decision was made
doubts arose uncertainty
jumped to the front of the line
arguments justifications self doubt
insecurities of past decisions
never far away locked in the closet
changes are a wake up call
challenging those hidden enemies
to come out and face me
in hand to hand combat
like a boxing match I can’t hold onto
the opponent I must let go
letting go exposed vulnerable
we fought the war together wounded
and left for dead but somehow
but you are my friend and I must let go
the memories will be in my closet
and let out with a glass of wine and tears
