A Calming Force

by

Heather Brower

The adrenaline rush when you hear them say
"Are you ready for you're surgery today?"
You get kinda nervous and tense
Next thing you know you're being relaxed
You roll down the hall watching the lights
You're really starting to feel alright
The room turns chilly
You can feel it on your nose
A light beams over you
And shows nothing but white
Its comforting you
Like tucking you in
Pleasant voices and gentle touches
Counting backwards from 100
100..99..98..
You fight to keep the high
Finally give in to it
And learn how to fly
