Rainfall

by

Heidi Yang

I love the way it smells after a rainfall,
The clean smell mixing with the freshly wet grass
suddenly reminds me of you,
I remember how it used to be just you and me
No worries or cares, just our love,
I loved how you always made me smile and laugh
I loved the way I felt when I was with you
like nothing else mattered
The kindness you showed me will never be forgotten,
Then the cancer came and took you away
Leaving me alone and crying
But despite that I still loved you,
The rain often brings sadness
and even though I miss you
I still love the way it smells after a rainfall.
