Healing

by

Jack Mann

I see poems differently now that I start to review them

They are not really what they at first seem to be

Good poetry reveals the inner soul of the author

Freud once said "Man alone is sincere,

but at the entrance of a second person

hypocrisy begins"

Poetry is a means of revealing oneself truthfully

Of getting things off your chest, so to speak

I would think it to be good therapy

As well as communicating ideas and feelings to others

When we can express to others, those things that bother us,

Either verbally, on paper, in Confession or otherwise,

Then, and only then, do we have a chance to be healed.
