My Wife, My Lover, My Friend

by

Jack Mann

A long time ago

At a dark teenage dance

I looked across the room

And saw her by chance

Her beauty was unmatched

From her head to her toes

In a field of wild flowers

She stood out like a rose

As I started to approach her

My heart filled with fear

Would I be rejected

If she came too near?

But my fears were in vain

As she looked into my eyes

"I would love to dance with you"

Came as a very big surprise!

From that moment on

And from the heavens above

I knew I had found her

My one and only true love

And as I look back

Over the past thirty seven years

I thank God for that night

That started out full of fear.

Not only did I find a wife

but my very best friend

someone I could trust

until the very end!

After four children

And a life full of fun

It just keeps getting better

And I know I have won.

If a man has one true friend

at the end of his life

then he has accomplished a lot

especially, if the friend is his wife.
