Overcoming the Odds

by

Janeece Vance

You’re conquering to make it through the snow

You’re struggling to withstand the shivering cold

You’re walking through the pit of pain and sorrow

This is a shroud of depressed thoughts

You begin wondering, how to abandon pain

How can you relieve this stressful stage

You’re embarrassed your actions will trigger shame

You desperately commence seeking a way out

You’ve elected on how to terminate your life

You’re driven to these means to end your strife

You’re coward to use a gun or a knife

Then hesitation and confusion merges within

As you’re contemplating on what to pursue

You’re heart seeks for answers on what to do

A voice from above cries out to you

Potently demanding to believe in you

You begin seeking deep within your soul

Examining places which no one goes

A spirit derives from your deepest soul

Cradling a hidden talent or two

As you’re revealed this brand new life

You’re then transported to incredible heights

You become thankful and surprised

You CAN overcome all odds of strife
