More Than Just Words

by

Joanna Rozo

“If you should die before me ask if you can bring a friend,”
says the poet.
A poet’s words are always true.
For he knows the heart and mind of his readers.
He can read them as easily as they can read is words.
Words that can burn like fire,
or words as cold as ice.
Words that pierce your heart,
Words that make you smile,
Words that tare you apart.
He knows how to make you cry,
He knows how to make you laugh.
Controls with a pen,
Causes you to flinch,
Causes you to cringe.
He is your lover,
He is you friend.
He’s your maker
He’s your killer.
He is me…
