Uncle Carl

by

Jodi Ebbesen

How do I say goodbye?
one day I might find the words, but not this day,
not when the sky is brilliant blue
and the sun is shining bright.

How do I say goodbye
when so much of you is with me,
memories of laughter and of tears
and the silence of forever.

How can I say goodbye
today, or any other day
when you are yet so near
and dear to my heart

I cannot find the words,
only that I love you
today, tomorrow and every day after
for death can not take that from me

And though I feel the sorrow
I shall remember and find a smile
knowing you are watching over
and I need never say goodbye

not today, nor tomorrow nor any day after.

thank you, Uncle Carl.
