An Angel At My Side

Saw my life
almost pass me by
Thought I was going to die
With my head hanging over the toilet bowl
Tried to keep my eyes open
So I wouldn’t slip into a coma
Part of me wouldn’t let me go
I fought the hardest I ever have that night
I thought that my life was threatened
Two things saved me that night
The same desire that I have to write
Burned inside of me differently that night
I just wanted to live
I just wanted to breathe fresh air
And take in all of life’s beauty
The other thing was an angel at my side
Doing everything to keep me awake
To make sure that my life was not cut short
Because of these things
I managed to make it through
Thank God for the angel that I was given.
