Despair

by

Jonathan Isenor

Trapped in a bad situation
With no escape in sight
You dwell
In your pit of despair
Wishing that one-day things could be better
And they can

Why spend your time dwelling?
When there’s a whole world out there
It’s just grabbing that first brick
Then you slowly pull yourself up
Gradually climbing out of the pit that had held you
As you climb you let go of what had put you down there

The one memory
That you cannot forget
But are finally ready to let go of
When you reach the top
You’ll find a world
Waiting for you

Now it’s your time to shine.
