Never Again

by

Jonathan Isenor

He came in drunk again

Beat you up

You ran to your room

Locked the door

That didn’t stop him

He broke the door down

And beat you more

He didn’t stop until he saw blood

He left the room

Deciding that he did enough damage

As you sit up

Blood drips down your face

Tears fall down your cheeks

But something else happens

You decided no more

You hear footsteps down the hall

You get to your feet

He comes in again

Reeking of beer

He goes to hit you again

This time things are different

You grab his hand

Look him in the yes

And then punch him

You leave the house

As your backing out of the driveway

You look back and decided

Never again.
