Credits will appear under the picture and link to the forum or maybe a mention of the credits found on the forum in the 500_word_project…

I will try to come up with a few and then pick one…

But right now I must replace my router it is causing me grief,,,

Really fabulous idea! I honestly think publishing is moving toward electronic and we'd be on the cutting edge....a thought....I removed one of my stories because I edited it, and will be submitting this month to a journal that requires first copy rights...I wonder if we could add a disclaimer....something to the effect that they are drafts? Or is this too much? Am I making it too complicated?

That's smart, Linda. I for one have taken these little snippets of mine and enlarged upon them so that they stand on their own without the picture – so in effect they are preliminary drafts for a later effort.

There is a published book of F. Scott Fitzgerald with nothing but such ideas that he used in later stories – sometimes a line or two. A page at the most.

Me too Harry...and I hated to take them off the Voice...but, some of these guys are real sticklers about this kind of thing....what should we do? and if I can't answer (you know the motor home thing)....I'll pick up everything on Monday morning...or go to the library tomorrow... Smile

Clive, I'm not worried about the credits....I just worry about the submission rights later.... but, I know I worry too much sometimes.... Crying or Very sad

I've got to go for the day. ...no more diet coke for me....Where in the world is the rest of the gang??? Jo? Marci? Dan? Dave???

I'm here. I use many of my prompt stories as parts of longer works, as in possible novel length or novellas with one or two shorts. One of the reason I haven't submitted much to the other part of the Voice is because I may want to use these pieces in later submissions.

I think a disclaimer that these are rough drafts is a good idea... it that doesn't make things too complicated. ( I do love the idea of an archive type anthology for the 500 club...I'm just a little ansy about copyrights and such...as Linda said, some publishers are quite adamant about publishing only non-published work...and fairly broad as to what is considered published.

Hmm...I'm rambling now so I'll stop. Just wanted to add my two cents.

Will each picture have its prompt number under it?

Seems like a unique feature of the site.

I have finished #1 and #2 – have a look and let me know if any thing is missing.

I added prompt numbers to the main photos.

I have made 7 pages of stories archiving the 500 word project works.
I made one Thumbnail page with links to the stories in the archives with the larger picture and stories below it. I have set up what I think I need for navigation so if there are any suggestions now would be a good time so there is less editing later.

Clive,

As far as I can tell it looks great. Of course I wouldn't know exactly what needed changing unless it was blatant. Embarassed Wink

You've really put a lot of work in on this and it shows. I take it this is not yet up and running for those who just read the Submissions part of the Voice. I think our readers will be in for a nice surprise once it is.

BTW, are you going to put a disclaimer stating that this work is basically freewrite flash fiction?

Looking good, Clive. Thanks for all your doing.

Looks great Clive, but I'm with M...I think we need a disclaimer... Smile

The following is an idea for the disclaimer -- any ideas?

These stories are limited to 500 words and have been inspired by the accompanying illustration. They are first draft efforts and submitted without editing.

I've been dropping in to view what's going on, even though I haven't participated lately.

Just one thought Harry. I confess that the things I submitted for the 500 Words were edited to some extent. It's impossible for me to produce a first draft without some grammar and spelling changes along with some sentence revision. How much, if any, of this type of editing is allowed for these exercises?

Maybe spell check, Dave. That's hardly editing anyway. All of us should make a habit of running eveything we do through spell check.

The object of flash fiction is see where our creative abilities can take us.

Hello to everybody!

If we try to change something on this part of the Forum, I suggest Marlicia send pictures on Friday evening or on Saturday at least.
If Marlicia sends it on (her) Sunday morning, I receive it on (my) Sunday evening due to the time difference. Sunday evening makes me think of (my) Monday morning at work rather than of writing stories. Confused

Besides, we could have more time over weekend to read other writers’ stories and to take part in a discussion.

It is only my little suggestion.

Jolanta Smile

Jolanta,

I can post the prompts between Friday and Saturday, my time, if it means more people will have more time to respond. It may fluctuate between the two dates due to the nature of my weekends, Wink but I can give it a shot and make sure it's posted by Saturday evening/night my time at the latest. Smile

Harry,

Regarding the editing, I do not consider what I post to be edited, but I do have to do some editing to make certain pieces fit the 500 word limit. I hope that's ok to be considered freewrite.

marlicia

Marlicia

Your purpose in writing them is probably a lot different than ours. I just thought it might cover the rest of us who seem to want to write off-the-cuff and have visitors understand they shouldn't expect perfection.

I suppose the most time consuming thing is finding the pictures. Would it be easier if you downloaded a dozen or so to Clive and he could post them at some regularly specified time?

Harry, that sounds great...I think (by calling attention to the fact that they are first drafts) it should cover any problems with journals who require first publication rights...
