Pretend by Heidi Yang

I hope Linda gets around to reading this, Heidi. It's well worth her expert opinion. All I can say is I liked it very much, it was wise and deep but full of youthful hope. This is one of the best things I've seen of yours.

Heidi,

I'm not a trained poet, though I write (or try to write) it. Still, I think this is very well done. It has good rhythm and rhyme and yes, it flows well. There is a poignancy to it, a sadness and disillusionment and disappointment, but all underscored by hope. Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoyed it.

marlicia

Hi Heidi,
What's been said, i have to agree with Marlicia and Harry. I love the sense of timelessness, it's rhyme, rhythm n reason.
Crossing the line between reality and imagination, girl to woman, i like the strong voice throughout
and the ending

Good stuff Heidi!
it leaves me asking, what's "normal"?

Heidi,

I did read your poem, and as the others, I was deeply impressed with the range of emotion...you went from little girl to woman and back again...Heidi, the ability to survive those kind of mood swings AND write about them is what makes poets... Smile

Thanks to everyone for their comments, I'm glad that it was good! I'll try to comment on anything new you guys submit. I also submitted the poem to my literary magazine here at my school so hopefully it will get accepted.

Heidi,

Please keep us informed on the submission. And, if it is not accepted this semester, do not give up. It is easy for college magazines to reach their quota. Actually, I have submitted work that was not accepted one semester, only to have it printed the next....sometimes with minor revisions, and sometimes without.
