She
by
Kimberly Hunt
She can't make you feel
like I do.
That's what I tell myself
about you.
She can't love you
the way that I do.
That's what I try to
make myself believe
about you.
I try to make me
forget that she exists.
I try to pretend
that we will be together again.
Someday...
But she is always
on my mind.
A strange obsession with
a woman I've never met.
She...
is always in my thoughts.
I wonder if she showers
you with kisses like I once did.
I wonder if she rubs your
back while lying in bed,
the way I always did.
I wonder if she makes love
like I do.
I wonder if she hears
the same professions of
faithfulness that I heard.
I wonder if she
really loves you.
Even if she does,
there's no way she loves
you like I do.
She could never be me.
And one day,
you will see.
You will sit and miss me.
One day...
When she isn't there.
And all that remains
are the thoughts of me.
And how she
could never compare.
You could never love
her like you love me.
And you will always
miss me much more.
No matter how much
you try to pretend.
