One Thousand Minutes More

by

Linda Dousay

—For Wallace Walker Lovejoy

Wally, love, the years have turned
The tide for you and I—
Yet in your eyes, I can see
The past is still alive.

One thousand minutes have gone by—
One thousand and one more—
But, dear, no minute can erase
The taste of one’s first love.

Kiss me as you soon must leave
To walk through your next door—
I’ll see you, love, along the way
One thousand minutes more.
