Crushed

by

Matthew Grey

Would it have been easier if we never met
At least then I wouldn't have to forget
Your smile was like cupids arrow through my heart
I wish we were together instead of apart

I wanted to know the you that no one saw
I wanted to show you the me that no one saw
I wanted to be with you through thick and thin
I wanted to explore with you and show you were I've been

But life has no pity for people like me
Life’s games are against me, this I see
It is a constant fight to come out on top
I try to fight it but it will never stop

As the day grows dark, and lights go dim
I dream of what could have been if I was him
I wonder if you have ever thought of me
I wonder if you have ever wanted me.

I wanted to give you my greatest gift
you turned your head and set my heart adrift
Now I am lost in a dark sea of sorrow
only hoping and praying for a better tomorrow.
