The Clearing
by
Melissa DeMedio

In the shadows I shall hide,
Tempted by the pain inside,
Fear amongst the trees that reside,
Which in the forest I look inside.
I walk a distance amongst a path,
With bended woods that laugh along,
Like a morbid mocking anger,
I take it in and laugh much louder.
I see a distant clearing ahead,
With lonely personality,
A place, perhaps, to seek myself,
Or be as lonely instead.
I stand in that clearing,
And look down to the ground,
I think one day I'll know,
Who I am and where I'm found.
