Sun And Moon
by
Michael D. Petti
I miss
you most and least expect to hurt
when sun is shining in its gold repose
or, silver servant, full moon won't desert
day's brightest promise dressed in evening clothes.
I struggle for poetic words to say
how like the sun and moon we were that night...
as I, full servant to your love's display
watched you disrobe your heart to my delight.
bright sun and moon in fullest phase cannot
exist in skies without full distance made
new moon would shed sun's light -- true love forgot
and sun, eclipsed by moon, would live in shade.
We love as one, as one we live apart
past dusk, once loved, before dawn made us part.
