Let Me Fly

By

Nicole Starleigh Yeager

The world is moving fast around me
Going so fast, I'd better look down
I'm struggling to make my way through life
Still you so carelessly throw my soul around

All my life, you pushed me onward
Rebellious, I did everything against you
And now, this is my chance to fly
But, as I see, you are taking that from me, too

Where did your endless support go?
I need you now more than ever before
Yet you shoot me down, afraid of what-- my success?
I only want to make my future, nothing more

I yearn to go on with my life
But I'm stuck in the mud of bad luck and despair
I ask you one last time, for your help
But you only turn your head... is that fair?
