Prometheus

by

Paul Grimsley

handing down fire
he employed idle hands --
instilled hearts with purpose,
filled minds with ideas,
gave feet to wanderlust,
shook off the rust
and set wind among dust.
handing down fire
he freed man from appeal
to higher orders,
he forged the future
on the anvil of man,
he doomed himself
to liver disorder.
