Six Windows

by

Ram Mehta

I have six windows in my body

And six lovers reside in it.

Twelve eyes peep thro’ them

Always in search of six beloveds.

None of them is steady but

Addicted to nocturnal visits

They have the habit to wander.

They returned in the morning-

Pleased, displeased, or otherwise.

With different results and moods

They wear different colours.

They are colourless in daytime.

Like motionless wine in the glass.

But as the night approaches again

The animals spring from its blood

And from its cross the plants.
