The Mare and Her Fole

by

Rhiannon Mainville

As the mare walked away, so did her fole
The writing on her body told the story of her soul
It opened up worlds that no man could comprehend
Leading to the worlds that would soon come to an end
You tell her to go, but you need her to stay
You cant live without her, not another day
She turns away and cries the tears of your regret
And what you have done, she will never forget
When she walks away, she desends into the forest
She stops seeing the people, only feeling the poorest
Below her run the pools of grey
If you ask her why, she will not say
Below her should have ran pools of red
She knew this day would come but why not him instead?
He holds onto her tight as she slowly slips away
But before she goes, there was one thing she needed to say
I dont need you, the pain in my heart somehow feeds you
Once you realize living my life is a lie
Then you can truly learn to say goodbye
