The Wandering Mind
by
Richard Miller

Scritch dot
slash, scratch slash scratch
Scritch, scratch, scritch, scratch
The pen sings its foreign song
As it wobbles back and forth across the page
Symbols magically appear on the blank sheet
As the whispered music builds and fades
Creating unspoken words from the whispered music of
the pen
Bits and pieces of the unseen writer
Hide within the alphabet mosaic
That records the pen's journey down the page
In a patchwork quilt of translated thoughts
One enigmatic snapshot
Of a solitary mind
As it stops and ponders
On its timeless journey
