For All of Us

by

Rusty Broadspear

For all of us, when
Truth disrobes, exposes,
There's a sting or deep cut.
Reality shrivels, decomposes,
And over time
Blossom follows bud.

We are all led, by
A peripheral sanctity.
Forever chasing an intangible,
Exquisiteness, a bold truth.
Pretty and indefinable.
Diaphanous certainty.

More than love, light or God,
This razor edge of actuality
Leads the way,
To old nights and each new day.
From beginning to end,
We all yearn to comprehend.

Blossom follows bud,
So we pursue this slight,
Gossamer, webbery sugared pill.
And all of us,
As we build our hills of histories,
Will keep on climbing still.
