Sultry
Satin Night
By
Rusty
Broadspear

On a sultry satin night
The velvet shadows lay still.
She slowly emerged - a vision of wonder,
My eyes began to fill
With tears of hope and wonderment,
But my heart was filled with dread.
I reached out to touch
I loved her so much,
But she gently smiled and shook her head.
The room I was in turned and tumbled,
Stars were beneath my feet.
Frantically I searched for her,
She was perfection - so complete.
A solitary black rose hung in the air,
The petals held her tears.
I cried all the way on my journey to sleep.
And then I awoke to face
The worst of my fears.
