Sweet Interval

by

Rusty Broadspear

When do I give the time back?
A loan - surely.

Too good to be true
To grow in a world
So old in age
That we should meet
Love me love you.

Happily I will hand it back
And say thank you.

Brief though it is
'tis silver thread
Shadowless
A river flowless
No dread
In spinning currents.

Returned to you but
Memory is cast.

And last it will
Throughout
A silvery vortex
No specks of doubt
No flecks throughout
Always always love you.

Although I walk the beach
Under virginal Sun
I am penned within myself
As if time has just begun...........

And this reporter from time
Stood back
Watched the Earth fissure
Break open in time lapse
Give birth
Come into bud
And witness
The hour of the flower.

Aching with wonder
I concede to your gift.........
