Blind, Useless Search

by

Sara Rarick

My hands are dirty from digging in dirt and falling in mud,
desperately searching for an answer that I will never find out without your help.
I feel the weight of the universe on my shoulders...
and it's a heavy burden to carry.
Closed eyes as warm water cleanses my skin
into a smooth surface for you to prey upon when you most desire.
My needs are secondary for all you care about is yourself.
But I give myself to you over and over, just to please you and
blindly hoping that you will take me into your heart,
and create equality in our minds.
My sleep is disturbed and broken with dreams that confuse
and leave me troubled and uncomforted for the day and the night.
Beneath my wandering feet... the earth parts and moves out of the way.
More proof that my search is a frivolous one.
Closer and warmer I feel I'm getting towards you...
the further you drift away.
Why do I deprive my broken heart from mending?
I have all the time to do so yet I hurt it more and more just to hear your devious words...
