My last conscious memory
fading into the glowing light.
I can see your shadow illuminating the setting sun.
Here, tonight, our souls will collide.
I’ll take your promise with me to the afterlife,
and hold it close to my heart,
until we meet again.
The wind carries promise of a new world
the trees rustle with anticipation.
But once the morning frost comes,
you will be forever gone,
and all that was once hoped for,
will be shattered into fragments
carried away by the rolling seas.
