Her Plan
by
Sara Rarick

It was hard for her to hear his name.
It was even harder for her to see his face in pictures.
It was hard to delete him out of her life,
to try to remember that she should no longer speak to him.
It was simple to erase his name and his number,
but the one place where she needed him gone forever,
the memories of him in her mind,
was the only place where she was unable to forget him.
She promised herself,
and promised her friends,
that she wouldn't listen to his lies any longer.
She wouldn't let him take advantage of her and that she would leave him.
Even though she knew it was for the best,
and really wanted to make the attempt,
she wasn't prepared for the hurt that would follow.
The nights where she would miss being held by him,
and barely slept a wink because her mind couldn't stay off of him.
Day after day her phone would ring,
and she hoped it was him calling.
It was hard for her to go on,
but only for a while.
Because she realized that he was no good anyway,
and she was strong enough to say,
that she had more important things to do.
