A Fading Love

I saw you look at me
and my heart filled with joy,
but as my heart rejoiced a tear
fell from my eye. I couldn't help it and I
didn't know why. Maybe it was what was
ahead, maybe it was a sigh that our love would soon
end.
Just as the sun comes up,
it must always at some point come down,
but I didn't know then why you would
cheat me of our time.
Hopefully I will find out or maybe time
will just pass us by.
Who knows what will happen,
who knows what we'll do.
All I can do is hold on to the memory
I have of you.
