Mum as a Guardian Angel
by
Solomon Machardson
Say what you
like about my Mum,
She is not like other Mums:
Between her heart and mine
There is a common wavelength
It enables us to share
A common mystery and insight.
Which weave in us the bond of affection
Cemented by her laughter and praises
Nothing snatches away sleep from my eyes
As the thought that a gunman
Might kidnap and take away from me
This woman who is my Mum.
So, at night, to detect any intruder,
I peep in the darkness
And listen to the whispering
Of the dim starry nights.
When at last, I fall asleep I dream
That my mother is my guardian angel
Who watches over me as I sleep
And tiptoes out, when I wake up.
